Winning T-shirt design!

Congratulations to Katie Illingworth in year 6 on winning this year’s T-shirt design with a speedy acorn! 9 weekends to go until the Gallop 2021 so hope training is going well. We will be in touch in September with event details. Team Gallop are off on holiday for the rest of August so will reply to any queries on their return!

New 2021 date

We realise there are likely to be some clashes due to the number of events which have been rescheduled for the autumn. If you already have a place for the March event you should have received a SiEntries email with information about your options for transferring to the new date or being issued a refund. Any new places that become available will be offered to those on the waiting list first and if any are left after this then we will open entry up again in the summer.

GALLOP 2021 UPDATE

We are sad to inform you that we have made the decision to POSTPONE the event from the planned date in March.  Unfortunately, our initial optimism back in the autumn has not paid off  🙁

A combination of reasons including the current lockdown situation making it hard for us to prepare for the event, land access challenges and the likelihood that restrictions will not have lifted enough by March for participants to travel to the area and take part has led us to make this difficult decision.

We really want to hold a Gallop for you in 2021 so are planning to have an autumnal event instead!  The date is yet to be finalised but if you already have an entry for the March 13th 2021 date we will email you via SiEntries in the next few weeks with the planned date.  You will have the option of your place being automatically rolled over to the autumn 2021 date, a refund (minus booking fee of £1.50) or donating your entry fee to the Grindleford PTA charity.

Overall we really hope you are keeping well and have been able to get out and enjoy some local running to keep spirits up.  We’ve had some lovely snowy and frosty weather in Grindleford lately but back to mud galore and rain this week! Take care, from Team Gallop.

Gallop 2020 results – well done everyone!

Well done to all runners and walkers – it was great to see everybody get stuck in and make the most of the event yesterday!

Results for 2020 are available here https://www.racetek-live.co.uk/…/pub…/1075/complete_results/.  The page may take a while to load so please be patient.

Congratulations to the Gallop 2020 winners!  A close finish in the men’s category with only 8 seconds between first and second places. Well done Sage on winning his first Gallop with a time of 2:28:29.  In the women’s category Caroline ran an amazing women’s course record of 2:47:16.

Thank you to all runners and walkers for your patience and adapting to the last minute changes and all your positive vibes and smiles. Thanks too to those who were meant to be competing but chose to self isolate.

Thanks to all the volunteers – including the cake bakers, parking team, registration team, marshalls, catering team (who are the amazing staff of the school!), the people who marked the route, the techies who managed the entries and timing system and those who did various other behind the scenes jobs.  Thanks also to the landowners, the people of Grindleford for accepting the disruption of hundreds of cars being spread across the village and the thankfully not called upon Edale Mountain Rescue Team who would have come to the aid of any injured competitors (as they would anybody injured in their area).

We hope to see you for the Gallop 2021 with the return of high fives 🙌 and hugs!

Well done everyone and have a well earned rest today!

From team Gallop

The Final Details 2020 email:

We’ve just pressed send on the final email so hopefully it will be waiting for you in your inbox, but just in case you can’t find it here’s what it says:

It’s here again! Only just under a week to go till this year’s Grindleford Gallop, who can believe it?! Hope you’re all looking forward to it and are fit and enthusiastic to go..

You can view final details of the event here.  Please do read these carefully as there is important information regarding the event you should know about, in particular about car parking as we have reduced spaces this year and also relevant information about coronavirus. There’s a map available here, illustrating allocated parking spaces throughout the village.  Please see https://racelifts.org/Grindleford-Gallop-2020/ to offer and register for lift shares.

Please don’t forget to bring your own foldable re-uesable cup for refreshments as we’re going for a no plastic cup policy at the drinks stations again, after successfully introducing this 2 years ago.

If you’ve entered other participants and they might not receive this e-mail, please forward it on to them.

This year’s t-shirt design was won by Eva in Class 3, you view it in all of its glory here:

The prize presentation will be held at around 1.15pm. As before, there will be free entry to all category winners to next year’s event and then Alpkit vouchers for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in all age categories.

If anyone has any further questions please send to info@grindlefordgallop.co.uk.

Many thanks,

Anna & Ed and The Gallop Team

Car parking and lift sharing

1 week to go ’til Gallop 2020! A quick word about car parking. It is going to be tighter this year as we don’t have access to The Maynard carpark and Severn Trent are doing some works in the village which takes out some of the main road towards Calver.
Please think about using public transport (we have a train station in Grindleford about 15 mins walk from the Pavilion) and car sharing.
For the first time we are using Race Lifts to make arranging a car share easier see https://racelifts.org/Grindleford-Gallop-2020/
If driving arrive in plenty of time and our friendly car park marshals will direct you to a parking space. These will mainly be on Padley and Maynard Road, the Sir William Hill pub car park, the approach road to Grindleford train station and Main Road.
We will be sending out the final race details tomorrow.
From the busy Gallop team x

Gallop 2020 T-shirt design competition

Congratulations to Eva Campbell in year 6 who has won this year’s logo design! Will her prediction of sunny weather come true? Just as long as the weather isn’t as bad as today’s effort from Storm Ciara…

We will have T shirts from previous years in various sizes available for a donation to Grindleford PTA so please come and grab a souvenir on the day!
