New for 2022/23 we are excited to announce that the Gallop is one of the local trail running events taking part in the Rab and Outside Winter Race Series. This means some excellent prizes from Rab and Outside and more yummy tray bakes from the Outside cafe!

What a day!! Congratulations to everyone who completed the course on Saturday in the fantastic March sunshine – for most of the day…

Congratulations to Jack as fastest male at 2:22:32 (new new course record!) and Florence as fastest female at 3:02:10 (10 minutes quicker than last year).

As always many thanks to the volunteers who make the event happen. In addition to those that you see on the day – such as those at the start/finish and marshals en route – there’s also the kitchen staff, cake bakers, soup ingredient chopper uppers (including some school pupils), sweepers, route markers and parking marshals.

Only 1 week to go until the 2022 Gallop!
The trails are nice and muddy thanks to all the recent rain. Long range forecast is looking settled (famous last words!).
Race information will be emailed out Monday evening. Entry transfer deadline is Monday midnight.

EXCITING NEWS!!! Our new prize sponsor this year is Outside who have their store in our neighbouring village of Hathersage. They have teamed up with Montane to kindly offer first place prizes to ALL male and female running age categories = a Montane Gecko VP 5+ running vest worth £100. There are about 220 (180 runner and 40 walker) places still available and we will be releasing these in early January. The exact date for this is still to be confirmed (it depends on entry system improvements) but we will let you know on here and the website at least 1 week in advance.

The team from Fabian4 have been working throughout the day to try and resolve the problem. About 200 email addresses were retrieved and these have been emailed and given priority access.
The exact gremlin in the server still hasn’t been identified and we don’t want to open places again until we can guarantee there won’t be the same failure. Please watch this space for details on when we will reopen the entries site (guaranteed to be a more sociable hour!).
We really appreciate the messages of support that people have emailed and posted. The last thing we want to do is let down Gallopers old and new. If you have any queries please email the info@grindlefordgallop.co.uk address and we will get back to you when we can (please bear in mind we are volunteers and have day jobs and families to contend with as well).
