Route Summary
Covering approximately 21 miles/35 km and 3000ft/850m of ascent the course takes in the villages of Grindleford, Froggatt, Eyam, Great Longstone, Edensor and Baslow linking them together with paths, tracks and open moorland of the White Peak. Famous landmarks on the way round include the Riley Graves, Longstone Moor, The Monsal Trail and of course the stunning Chatsworth Park estate. The final high-level section along Baslow and Frogatt edges offers breath-taking views of the surrounding Peak District.
Race Start Times
The walking participants can start at any time after 7am, with the latest start time being 9am. The runners are then started in a mass start at 10am. If you are expecting to finish in 6 hours or less then you should be signed up as a runner.
Marshalling and Route finding
The route is marshalled at important interchanges and most of the control points are manned. Elsewhere the route is only partially marked. While the event does not require specialised navigation skills you should make yourself familiar with the course using the information on this page and carry a map so that you know where you are going.
Importantly the route is a fixed course not the shortest route between the controls. That means no short cuts allowed!

A video guide to the route is available below: please note the error at 2:14 “turn right under the bridge” should be “turn left under bridge”! The video is 8 minutes long but well worth it!
You can download a GPX file for navigation devices below. We welcome the use of such devices, this is not a navigation event, but you do need to know where you are going.
